Community Code of Conduct

Last updated August 31, 2026

Effective Date: August 31, 2026

The Cover6 community has been running free since 2012 — meetups, workshops, live streams, Capture The Flag events, and the Cover6 Academy. People come to us at every stage: career changers, students, transitioning service members, and working practitioners. This document is how we keep that room safe enough for all of them to learn in.

1. Who This Applies To

Everyone, everywhere we gather. That includes our Meetup events in person and online, YouTube live streams and chat, the Cover6 Academy and its course discussions, our Capture The Flag platform, the Chrysalus talent platform, and any Cover6 channel, forum, or group chat. It applies to participants, speakers, volunteers, staff, and sponsors alike, and it applies to conduct directed at another member of this community even when it happens somewhere else.

2. What We Expect

Assume people are here to learn. Someone asking a question you consider basic is doing exactly what this community is for. Answer it or stay quiet.

Give credit. If you use someone’s research, tooling, or writeup, say whose it is.

Respect the room. Different sessions have different levels. Match the one you are in rather than steering it somewhere else.

Follow the law and our Acceptable Use Policy. Everything you learn here is taught for defensive and authorized use.

3. What Is Not Acceptable

Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination based on race, color, national origin, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.

Unwelcome sexual attention, sexual imagery, or comments about a person’s body or appearance.

Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following, in person or online.

Sustained disruption of a talk, stream, workshop, or event.

Publishing another person’s private information without their explicit permission — full name, employer, home address, phone number, or account details. Practicing open source intelligence on a real person in this community is harassment, not a demo.

Photography, recording, or screen capture of another participant who has asked you not to.

Threats, incitement to violence, or advocating that anyone harm themselves.

Using our events or channels to solicit targets, buyers, or collaborators for unauthorized access to systems.

4. Recording and Privacy

Many of our sessions are recorded and published to YouTube. Assume the main room is being recorded. If you do not want to appear, keep your camera off and use a handle rather than your legal name — nobody will ask you why. Do not record breakout rooms, private channels, or one-on-one conversations without the consent of everyone in them.

5. Recruiting, Selling, and Self-Promotion

Recruiters and hiring managers are welcome here — a good share of this community is looking for work, and connecting the two is part of why Cover6 exists. Post roles where roles belong, and use the Cover6 job board if you want reach. What is not welcome is unsolicited mass direct messaging of members, harvesting the member list for outreach, or pitching a product in the middle of someone else’s session.

6. Reporting

If something happens, tell us at info@cover6solutions.com. If it is happening live during an event, message the host directly — you do not have to wait until it is over, and you do not have to be the person it happened to in order to report it.

Tell us what happened, roughly when, and who was involved if you know. You can ask us to keep your name out of it, and we will unless we are legally required to do otherwise. We will not retaliate against anyone for reporting in good faith, and we will not ask you to confront the other person yourself.

7. What Happens Next

We will acknowledge your report and look into it. Depending on what we find, the response may be a private conversation, a warning, removal from a session, a ban from future events, suspension or termination of a Cover6 Academy account, or removal from the talent platform. Serious conduct will be referred to the appropriate authorities.

Cover6 Solutions makes the final call on enforcement, and we may act without warning where someone’s safety is at stake.
