About Cover6 Solutions
A cybersecurity firm that started as a community — and still runs like one.
The Community Came First
In 2012, Tyrone E. Wilson started a Meetup group in the DC area. A service-disabled Army veteran coming out of military cyber operations, he had skills — but no network. No community. Nobody who looked like him at the table. So he built one.
A small Meetup for people trying to break into InfoSec became something bigger: 9,900+ members, 133+ events, and 800+ alumni who went on to build careers in cybersecurity.
Cover6 Solutions came out of that community in 2013 — not the other way around. The name comes from the military expression “I’ve got your six.” I’ve got your back. That’s still the whole job: protect the mission, serve the people, leave nobody behind.
Today, Cover6 Solutions delivers vCISO services, CMMC readiness, penetration testing, and workforce development to defense contractors and mid-market companies that need real security — not checkbox compliance.
Cover6 Solutions is owned and operated by a service-disabled U.S. Army veteran.
What We Build
Four pillars. Each one feeds the others.
Cybersecurity Consulting

Cover6 Academy
34 courses and practice exams for CISSP, Security+, CySA+, PenTest+, and more. Built by practitioners, not publishers.

Chrysalus
Cover6’s verified talent platform. Professionals build a Core Score across credentials, quiz performance, community contribution, and a video interview. Candidates don’t apply. They get found.
Tyrone E. Wilson
Tyrone has spent more than 30 years in information security, including a military career as a Training NCOIC and Cyber Operations Trainer at the 1st Information Operations Command at Fort Meade — the unit that trains Army cyber operators.
In 2012, still navigating the transition out of the service, he founded the DC Metro cybersecurity community. That community became the foundation for Cover6 Solutions.
His credentials include the Carnegie Mellon University Executive CISO designation and a PECB Authorized Training Partner certification.
He sits on the BSides DC Review Board, where he helps decide which talks make the stage, and on the advisory board of Howard University’s Cybersecurity Analytic Center. He has personally run more than 100 penetration tests, and speaks at BSides events and cybersecurity conferences.
“Three decades in this field. Since 2012, building a community in it. We don’t just protect organizations — we develop the people who protect them.”

Why Cover6?
Both Sides of the Table
We’ve trained people to get hired and helped companies hire better. Both perspectives live in every engagement.
From the Field to the Classroom
Our training is built from active engagements. What we find on assessments becomes curriculum. Real threats, real defenses.
Where We’ve Shown Up
Organizations whose teams we’ve trained, whose stages we’ve spoken on, and whose missions we’ve supported since 2012.
Ready When You Are.
Whether you need a security assessment, professional training, or a cybersecurity partner who answers the phone — Cover6 Solutions is ready to have your back.
