About Cover6 Solutions

Veteran-owned. Community-driven. Built to defend.

The Community Came First.

In 2012, Tyrone E. Wilson started a Meetup group in the DC area because he knew what it felt like to have no one at his back.

A service-disabled Army veteran coming out of military cyber operations, he had skills — but no network. No community. Nobody who looked like him at the table. So he built one.

What began as a small Meetup group for professionals trying to break into InfoSec grew into a movement. Today, that community counts 9,800+ members across 133+ events — and a reputation for showing up where it matters.

Cover6 Solutions was born from that community in 2020. The name comes from the military expression “I’ve got your six” — meaning “I’ve got your back.” That ethos drives everything we do: protect the mission, serve the people, and never leave anyone behind.

Today, Cover6 Solutions is a service-disabled veteran-owned cybersecurity firm delivering vCISO services, CMMC compliance, penetration testing, and workforce development — to federal agencies, defense contractors, and mid-market companies who need real security, not checkbox compliance.

What We Build

Cover6 operates across four pillars — each one reinforcing the others.

Cybersecurity Consulting

vCISO services, CMMC readiness, penetration testing, and security assessments for organizations that need real protection.

Cover6 Academy

Online courses and practice exams for CISSP, Security+, CySA+, PenTest+, and more — built by practitioners, not publishers.

Cover6 Community

9,800+ cybersecurity professionals connected through meetups, mentorship, and a shared mission to elevate the industry.

Chrysalus

Cover6’s verified talent platform — where cyber professionals build a Core Score across credentials, quiz performance, community contribution, and a video interview. Candidates don’t apply. They get found.

Tyrone E. Wilson is the founder and CEO of Cover6 Solutions. He spent his military career as a Training NCOIC and Cyber Operations Trainer at the 1st Information Operations Command (1st IO Cmd) at Fort Meade — the unit that trains Army cyber operators. He has been in information security for over 30 years.

In 2012, while still navigating the transition from military service, Tyrone founded the DC Metro Cybersecurity community. What he built over the next eight years — 133+ events, 9,800+ members, 800+ alumni who went on to land careers in cybersecurity — became the foundation for Cover6 Solutions when he formally launched the firm in 2020.

His credentials include the Carnegie Mellon University Executive CISO designation and a PECB Authorized Training Partner certification. Howard University named Cover6 Solutions a Security+ certification partner for FY27 — alongside Lockheed Martin and Chevron.

Tyrone sits on the BSides DC Review Board and is a recurring speaker at cybersecurity events including DEF CON. He brings practitioner insight — not theory — to every engagement.

“30+ years in this field. 14+ years building a community in it. We don’t just protect organizations — we develop the people who protect them.”

Ready to Strengthen Your Cyber Posture?

Whether you need a security assessment, professional training, or a trusted cybersecurity partner — Cover6 Solutions is ready to have your back. Let’s start the conversation.

Why Cover6?

Community Before Company

We built the community in 2012 — eight years before Cover6 Solutions existed. The firm came out of the community, not the other way around.

Both Sides of the Table

We’ve trained people to get hired and helped companies hire better. Both perspectives live in every engagement.

From the Field to the Classroom

Our training is built from active engagements. What we find on pentests becomes curriculum. Real threats, real defenses.

On the Stage

Tyrone E. Wilson presents at DEF CON, BSides events, and cybersecurity stages nationwide — bringing practitioner perspective to topics that matter.
