The Community Came First
In 2012, Tyrone E. Wilson started a Meetup group in the DC area. He was a service-disabled Army veteran coming out of military cyber operations, with the skills but no network, and nobody at the table who looked like him. So he built one.
That Meetup for people trying to break into InfoSec grew into a community of 10,000+ members, with 133+ events and 800+ trained alumni.
Cover6 Solutions came out of that community in 2013, not the other way around. The name comes from the military expression “I’ve got your six.” I’ve got your back. That’s still the whole job: protect the mission, serve the people, leave nobody behind.
Today, Cover6 Solutions is founder-led. Tyrone delivers vCISO services, CMMC readiness, penetration testing, and workforce training to defense contractors and mid-market organizations, and brings in vetted specialists when an engagement calls for them.

Tyrone E. Wilson
Tyrone has spent more than 30 years in information security. In the Army he served as a Training NCOIC and Cyber Operations Trainer at the 1st Information Operations Command at Fort Meade.
His cyber career spans USCYBERCOM, JTF-GNO, the Department of Energy, and RCERT-SWA in Iraq. He holds an active Top Secret clearance.
He has personally run more than 100 penetration tests and holds the Carnegie Mellon University Executive CISO designation.
He sits on the BSides DC Review Board, where he helps decide which talks make the stage, and on the advisory boards of BSides NoVA and Howard University’s Cybersecurity Analytic Center. He speaks at BSides events and cybersecurity conferences.
