Now that you understand the services, let’s talk about how they get attacked. These are the attack categories you need to know – not just for offensive work, but for defending against them too.

Brute Force Attacks – trying every possible password until one works. Tools like Hydra and Medusa automate this process and can target SSH, FTP, RDP, HTTP login forms, and more. A variation called a dictionary attack uses a wordlist of common passwords.
