Google dorking (also called Google hacking) is the practice of using advanced search operators to find information that most people don’t even realize is publicly exposed. We’re talking login portals, open directories, configuration files, passwords in documents – all indexed by Google and sitting there for anyone who knows how to search.

How it works

Google supports special search operators that let you narrow down results in very specific ways. Here are the ones you need to know:

site: – Limits results to a specific domain. Example: site:cover6solutions.com

filetype: – Finds specific file types. Example: filetype:pdf site:target.com

intitle: – Searches for words in the page title. Example: intitle:index of passwords
