What is NSE?

NSE is a scripting framework built into Nmap that lets you run Lua scripts against discovered services. There are over 600 scripts included with Nmap, organized into categories like discovery, vulnerability detection, brute force, and exploitation.

Script Categories

NSE scripts are grouped into categories that tell you what they do:

auth – Tests for authentication issues (default credentials, anonymous access)
