A Day in the Life of a Web App Pentester

Join us on Thursday, January 28th, 2021, at 11:30 AM EST as Christian Elston discusses hacking software as a job, the certifications needed, and building a resume for that job.

Did you know you can hack software as a job? Have you ever wondered how to get a job in information security? Do you need certifications? How can you start building a resume NOW to land that information security job? In this presentation, you will learn about the different types of companies, jobs, and paths that lead to a job in cybersecurity. You will also hear about one web app pentester’s path to landing a job at Security PS, the pros and cons of how it prepared him for the role, and what he wishes he had done differently. Finally, you will see a demo of application-layer hacking in action.

A former national security practitioner turned hacker, I am passionate about helping organizations secure themselves from compromise. Ultimately, I want to help organizations identify and manage their information security risks. When I’m not hacking, I’m usually hanging out with my wife, my four puppies, and training for a triathlon.
