DC Micro Tech Talks: Small groups discuss big ideas in tech!

Please join us at Capital One’s Tyson’s Corner campus for a night of the latest and greatest ideas in tech. Break up into one of our six discussion groups and rotate through three rounds of small talks, giving you both an intimate understanding, and large scope of different hot-button topics in today’s tech! Choose your own adventure (and tech topics) through an amazing night of guided tech talks!

Bianca Jackson is social entrepreneur, storyteller speaker, and award-winning project manager with 14+ years of experience managing IT infrastructure, web, mobile, video, and VR/AR projects for Fortune 500 companies such as National Geographic, UnitedHealth Group, Marriott, and USA Today. In her spare time, Bianca is building social enterprise called BrickRose Exchange, http://www.BrickRoseExchange.org, an event venue based in Baltimore, MD designed for social entrepreneurs, community organizers, and purpose-driven professionals to attend and host meetings, trainings, discussions, and forums.

Uday Kumar leads the delivery of card authorization products at Capital One and has over 20 years of industry experience leading software product teams. He has led both consumer and platform product teams, and has worked for F500, non-profit, and startup organizations. He has an engineering and business background, and started his career as a software engineer.

Discussion Topic: Serverless Architecture with a special emphasis on GoLang

Has been with Capital One Financial for the past 8 years and been part of key strategic initiatives such as Commissioning the Capital One Enterprise API Gateway, and migrating very high volume applications such as Enterprise Payments from Corporate Data Center to AWS. Currently I am leading Capital One Small Business Card Acquisitions systems that are responsible for Capturing and Processing Small Business Credit Card Application.

Jared Alexander, Lead Software Engineer @ Capital One
Discussion Topic: Come learn about some nifty tools from Apple, Google, and Microsoft that allow any developer (even without any ML experience) to build and deploy models that can be utilized via API or on-device!

Jared Alexander is a Lead Software Engineer at Capital One and works on the Capital One Mobile iOS and Android flagship apps. He’s passionate about all things mobile – he teaches iOS and Android development at George Washington University as an Adjunct Professor and runs Tysons Apps, a company he and his wife Rose co-founded. Outside of app development, he loves basketball, traveling with his wife, and hanging out with his cat Wahoo.
